Public accountability

Ten seats. Who will explain the decisions?

County Council has ten members: the eight municipal mayors and two additional Woodstock representatives.

A County decision affecting Woodstock. County-wide record
About this decision

County Council has ten members: the eight municipal mayors and two additional Woodstock representatives. Residents elect those local officeholders; Council selects the Warden. For the 2026 election, Woodstock’s additional offices are Deputy Mayor–County Councillor and City–County Councillor. A County accountability record must therefore connect eight municipalities to the decisions of one Council without inventing a County-wide Warden ballot. It should also keep today’s representatives separate from certified candidates and incoming acclaimed officeholders. The useful standard is a clear explanation before a consequential decision, an accurate record of the decision and evidence of what happened afterward.

The choices on the table

These are editorial alternatives to test, not attributed candidate promises.

Maintain a public explanation and follow-through record

Editorial proposal: connect attributed statements, questions, recorded motions and measurable outcomes; distinguish documented record from interpretation.

Publish missing-answer states precisely

Proposal: show missing answers, delivered questions awaiting a reply and explicit refusals as distinct states. These editorial questions have not been sent.

Questions that still deserve an explanation

  • Will you publish a specific County-authority position on each major issue before the vote?
  • Will you explain material changes in your position and link the evidence that changed your mind?
  • Which result would demonstrate that your proposal worked?
  • Will you return to unanswered public questions after the election?
